Autoimmunity + Stress

Applying sound therapy to the central nervous system

Grounding, knowledge of self-worth, rest, boundaries, self-expression, and abundance are the keywords to the energetic centers (chakras) we will focus on to support self-healing. We will work with all 7 chakra areas including root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown  to address the causes of autoimmunity and/or general stressors, which could stem from any number of life situations past or present. Some phrases we will tune into address are:

  • "Next week things will slow down..."

  • "I just have a lot on my plate right now. It's temporary..."

  • "After I finish X, everything will be different..."

  • "If I just manage my calendar more tightly, I can squeeze in X..."

  • "This relationship, financial issue, or work-life balance is getting better..."

Some stressors are common to all humans, such as having a spouse die or losing a job. But there are other physical, psychological and environmental sources of stress as well. Air pollution from sources including vehicle exhaust and forest fires, for example, can have detrimental effects on health and play a major role in various autoimmune diseases. Pollution includes solid, liquid and gas components such as: carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and sulfur dioxide.

The process we will use over a 1-hour session will be to first comb through the biofield to note any major energy blockages which are discernable to the human ear and work to unblock them by playing a tuning fork until the note rings true. Often, the person receiving the treatment hears the actual change in the note when this happens and we mutually agree we've cleared up that area. We will then spend time discussing what we heard and the event which might have triggered such a blockage to name it and process it.

What is stress and how is it related to autoimmunity?

“Our brains perceive events in our lives as stressful or not, and when they’re perceived as stressful, that results in the activation of certain areas of the brain, which includes the activation of pathways that release the so-called stress hormones norepinephrine, epinephrine and cortisol,” said Dr. Michelle Dossett, who has studied mind-body health.

“These stress hormones have effects on all the organs and tissues of our bodies and can impact intestinal functions, cardiovascular functions and the immune system.”

Stress may both trigger and exacerbate autoimmune disease. Up to 80% of patients have reported uncommon emotional stress before the onset of disease. Researchers describe a sort of feedback loop: Stress not only causes disease, but disease causes significant stress in patients, according to the Global Autoimmune Institute. Stress has been associated with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, Graves’ disease, vitiligo, and other autoimmune conditions.
